Valentine Day’s GARLAND

You will need A4 sheets of colored paper, a pair of scissors and a stapler. Cut the paper crosswise into thin strips. Fold each strip in two. The first one is the hardest  Fold two pieces at the middle and staple them together. Turn the ends of the outer one back and staple them tothe next folded strip. 

Easy NO-GLUE Red-and-White Garlands

This is a very pleasant activities for kids who are good at working with scissors. I guarantee at least an hour of peace and calm  Kids can both cut away the shapes and link them together. Just show them how to do it.

One A4 sheet of paper makes 4 elements. Fold each piece in half as shown below. Trace the outline in pencil (with the fold on the lower edge) and cut out.

Open the shape. It should look as shown above.

String together the individual shapes, alternating the colors.

Heart Garland

I don’t think you actually need to print out templates. Hearts are so easy to cut out from a folded sheet of paper. Here’s how:

Cut sets of three hearts in different colors. To make a garland, snip every second heart and link it to the neighboring two. Alternate colors and sizes. Close the snips with sticky tape at the back. As the hearts looked a little boring to me, I made a ‘running stitch’ with a piece of yarn and was quite pleased with the results. (Three A4 sheets of paper were enough for a 1.5 m long garland).
